In the tradition of coming of age tales like COOLEY HIGH and irreverant urban comedies like BARBERSHOP and FRIDAY comes the hilarious misadventures of Mort and the gang as they leap into one of life's greatest challenges… life after high school!

Fresh out of high school Mort has the passion of becoming a journalist. While most of his friend's have already decided on their path in life, Mort remains unsure. Although his passion is journalism, he can't imagine being under the thumb of a big corporation.

Using his college tuition money, he starts "SAY WHAT!" an independent weekly newspaper dedicated to the interests of the people, while dishing a little dirt. He attends community college along the way.

While working to keep SAY WHAT afloat, he has to deal with his father pressuring him to pursue a more traditional path to success. The newspaper also causes Mort to bump heads with the local powers that be.

While Mort's goals are idealistic and noble, he can't avoid the mistakes and mishaps that go along with becoming a responsible adult. His continuing dilemma is trying to balance his idealism and passion with responsibility and practicality.

All of the action takes place amidst an array of colorful characters, including Mort's family and friends. Over the course of the strip, each character's foibles and quirks will come to surface.

SAY WHAT is a slice of life, coming of age comedy, with an empowering message of youth taking control and making a difference. SAY WHAT is not a political strip but it stays rooted in irreverent but good-natured humor and satire for all ages.
